Ye kadam ka ped agar ma hota yamuna teere - यह कदम्ब का पेड़ अगर माँ होता यमुना तीरे

यह कदम्ब का पेड़ अगर माँ होता यमुना तीरे,

मैं भी उस पर बैठ कन्हिया बनता धीरे,धीरे...

ले देती यदि बांसुरी ,तुम दो पैसे वाली,

किसी तरह नीचे हो जाती ये कदम्ब की डाली,

तुम्हें नहीं कुछ कहता,पर मैं,चुपके चुपके आता,

उस नीची डाली से अम्मा, ऊँचे पे चढ़ जाता....

वहीँ बैठ फिर ,बड़े मजे से,मैं बांसुरी बजाता ,

अम्मा अम्मा कह तुम्हें बंसी के,स्वर में बुलाता ....

सुन मेरी बंसी को माँ तुम इतनी खुश हो जाती ,

मुझे देखने काम छोर कर,तुम बहार तक आती....

तुमको आता देख बांसुरी रख,मैं चुप हो जाता,

पत्तों में छिपकर धीरे से,फिर बांसुरी बजाता ...

गुस्से होकर मुझे दाटती कहती,"नीचे आजा",

पर जब मैं न उतरता,हंस कर कहती,"मुन्ना राजा"....

नीचे उतरो मेरे बेटा ,तुम्हें मिठाई दूंगी,

नए खिलोने,माखन,मिसरी,ढूढ़ मलाई दूंगी...

मैं हंस कर सबसे उपर टहनी पर चढ़ जाता,

एक बार "माँ" कह पत्तों में वहीं,कहीं छिप जाता...

बहुत बुलाने पर भी "माँ ", जब मैं न उतर कर आता,

तब "माँ" तुम्हारा हृदय,बहुत विकल हो जाता...

तुम आँचल पसार कर माँ वहीँ पेड़ के नीचे,

इश्वर से कुछ विनती करती,बैठी आँखें मीचे.....

तुम्हें ध्यान में लगी देख,मैं धीरे धीरे आता,

और तुम्हारे फैले आँचल में,आकर छिप जाता...

तुम घबरा कर आँख खोलती,फिर भी खुश हो जाती,

जब अपने "मुन्ने राजा" को,अपनी गोदी में ही पाती....

इस तरह कुछ खेला करते हम तुम धीरे धीरे,

"माँ" कदम्ब का पेड़ अगर,ये होता यमुना तीरे.......

  6. woooow yeh kavita mere maa ne mujhe sikhaya tha but zinddagi ke aage jaane ke chalte thore dhudhli ho gae the ye kavita but ajj wo dhudhli parat saaf ho gae aur sab yaad aa gaya.....................

Subhadra Kumari Chouhan is a very very good poet. she wrote all sweet poems like kadamb ka ped, Mera Naya Bachpan, Jhansi Ki Rani etc. She is a living legend but she has left this world in 42 years of age only and we are unfortunate that some more poem jewels can be added by her.....   19. wow!!! wat a poem... no word to describe.. vaise maine ye poem bahut baar suni h.. daddy hamesha mujhse kehte h tune ye poem suni h jab mai chhota tha ye tab ki poem h ... unhe aaj tak ye poem yaad h great.. aur mai hamesha kehti hu haan na yaad h.. :P

  20. i simply love this poem. i read this in my schooldays and now even my daughter aged 9 also repeats a few lines of this poem after me. this one of those poems which i very fondly and clearly remember.
